Privacy Policy
SnugPark is building a marketplace for monthly private parking in San Francisco. Right now this website is just a waitlist. This policy explains what the website collects, why, who else touches it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. The SnugPark app will have its own policy when it launches.
What we collect
What you type or choose on the waitlist form
- Your email address.
- Whether you're a driver or a space owner.
- Your street address in San Francisco (drivers: where you live; owners: where the space is), with an optional unit number and the ZIP code.
- Drivers: the most you'd pay per month, all-in, and when you need parking.
- Owners, optionally: the type of space and the monthly rent you'd hope for.
- Your answers to two checkboxes: whether we may email you occasional news, and (drivers) whether we may count you in anonymous area totals shown to owners.
Your address and its map location
We ask for your street address so we can count demand accurately near each garage and, after launch, match drivers and spaces that are close to each other. We turn the address into map coordinates (latitude and longitude), precise to within a few metres. That's called geocoding. Your address and its coordinates are precise geolocation, which California law treats as sensitive personal information.
- We never show your address to owners, drivers or the public, and we never sell it. Owners only ever see anonymous area totals (at least 3 drivers). If an owner lists a space, drivers see only a block-level location until a lease is signed.
- We never send your address or coordinates to Meta or any other advertiser.
- Service providers who process it for us: while you type, the letters you've entered are sent to Geoapify to suggest matching addresses (when suggestions are switched on). If you don't pick a suggestion, our signup handler sends the address to the U.S. Census Bureau's geocoder to find its coordinates. Google stores the result in our private sheet. They process it only to provide those services to us.
- We use it only to provide what you signed up for: telling you when SnugPark opens near you, counting demand by area, and matching you with nearby spaces or drivers. We don't use it to infer anything else about you. If we ever want to use it for anything beyond that, we'll ask first, and you can ask us to limit its use to those purposes at any time (see "Your choices").
- If a geocode fails, we keep the address and try again later, so you don't have to sign up twice.
Collected automatically
- The date and time you signed up, and whether that was before our public launch (this decides the founding-driver offer).
- Simple counts of how far visitors get: which path they chose, whether they started the form, and whether they submitted it, with the ad campaign tags and a random number that lasts for one page visit. These counts contain no email, address or form answers, and are stored only in our own sheet.
- The ad campaign tags in the link you followed (for example
utm_source=instagram). They tell us which ads bring sign-ups. They don't identify you. - Standard web server logs kept by our host, Vercel (IP address, browser type, pages requested), used for security and reliability.
- Meta Pixel, only when we're running ads on Facebook or Instagram, and only if you haven't opted out (see below). It tells Meta that a browser viewed this page and, if you sign up, that a sign-up happened and whether it was a driver or an owner. Meta may link that to your Meta account and sets a cookie called
_fbp. We do not send Meta your email, address, ZIP, coordinates, price or any other form answers, and the form is built so the Pixel can't read them.
Why we use it
- To email you when SnugPark opens near you, to invite you to trials, and to tell you about your founding-driver offer.
- Only if you ticked the news box: to send occasional SnugPark updates.
- Only if you ticked the demand box (drivers): to show garage owners how many drivers are looking near them and in what price range. These are always area totals, shown only when at least 3 drivers are in range. We never show your email or your individual answers to anyone.
- To decide which neighborhoods to open next and which ads work.
- To prevent spam and abuse.
Who else handles it
- Google stores waitlist sign-ups in a private Google Sheet that only the SnugPark team can open.
- Geoapify suggests addresses as you type (when switched on).
- U.S. Census Bureau geocoder turns typed addresses into coordinates.
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives the Pixel events described above, when the Pixel is on.
- An email service, when we send waitlist emails.
We don't sell your information for money. However, California law counts letting Meta's Pixel collect information for ad targeting and measurement as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of that at any time.
Your choices
- Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: use the opt-out page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically, and the Pixel never loads.
- Limit the use of my sensitive personal information: we already use your address only for the purposes above. To ask us to confirm that, or to delete your address, email us (below).
- Emails: every email has an unsubscribe link.
- California rights: you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, opt out of sharing, and limit the use of sensitive personal information such as your address. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. Your founding-driver status doesn't depend on any of these choices, but if you ask us to delete your sign-up we can no longer apply the offer. Email hello@snugpark.com from the address you signed up with. We may need to confirm it's you. You can also use an authorized agent.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details, including your address and coordinates, until you ask us to delete them, or until two years after our public launch, whichever is first. Visit counts are kept for up to two years. If you sign up for the SnugPark app, your waitlist details may be linked to your account (for example, to apply the founding-driver offer). Ad campaign tags are kept with your sign-up. Meta's retention of Pixel data is set by Meta's own policies.
Security
Sign-ups travel over HTTPS and are stored in an access-restricted Google account. Only the SnugPark team can open the sheet. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll tell you if a breach affects your information, as the law requires.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, email people on the waitlist.
